Overview:

In this best 5 days Morocco Desert tour from Marrakech, you’ll see several fabulous places and spend a magical night in the Sahara Desert ( you can choose between a standard camp and a luxury camp).

Tour itinerary:

Day 1: MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE:

We will pick you up at the hotel or riad and travel towards the High Atlas, the highest mountain range in North Africa. In the winter and early spring, you can enjoy snow at higher elevations. We will then proceed to Ait Ben Haddou, a 1987 Unesco World Heritage Site where Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and The Mummy were filmed, among others. We will arrive in Ouarzazate, where most of Morocco’s film facilities are located. In Ouarzazate, you will have dinner and stay the night.

Day 2: OUARZAZATE – DRAA VALLEY – MERZOUGA:

On our journey to the Desert, following a morning visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, we will travel along the Djebel Saghro mountain range, down to the oases and kasbahs of the Draa Valley, and along the Draa, Morocco’s longest river. Before arriving in Merzouga, we will travel through several Berber communities, including Agdz and N’kob, where we will pause for lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and accommodation will be provided in a Desert Hotel.

Day 3: MERZOUGA – KHAMLIA – RISSANI – ERG CHEBBI:

In the morning, you will begin to explore the area surrounding the Desert. You will begin in Khamlia or nearby to enjoy and dance with the black-skinned Sudanese, and then travel to the other side of the Sahara to see the Nomads who live there. You can spend time with them and ask them numerous questions to get an in-depth knowledge of their life and lifestyle. The Nomads here are extremely hospitable and friendly. Then, stay in the Desert until you have completed the entire tour of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Your driver/guide will transport you to a local restaurant for lunch to enjoy ‘the Berber pizza’. You will return to your hotel or Riad for a break around 3 p.m. in order to prepare for the camel excursion to the golden sand dunes. Overnight in a Berber tent.

Day 4: SAHARA DESERT – TODRA GORGE – DADES GORGES:

Before returning to the hotel for breakfast and a shower, we will rise early to enjoy the spectacle of the sunrise rising over the Saharan dunes. On our way to the Todra Gorges, we will travel via Erfoud and then the High Atlas Mountains. We will take a brief hike in the narrow Todra Gorges before continuing along the picturesque River Valleys to Dades Gorge. You can go for a hike in the Dades Gorge in the afternoon. Hotel stay with dinner included.

Day 5: DADES GORDE – TELOUAT – MARRAKECH:

After an early-morning walk in the Gorge, we will continue along the Dades Valley via El Kelaat M’Gouna and the oasis of Skoura. Following lunch in Ouarzazate, we head toward the High Atlas Mountains to explore Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
